The invisible bracket
Are you looking for a comfortable and almost invisible bracket? Then opt for the Invisalign®. This is an orthodontic treatment that uses a new technology to straighten your teeth. Made of flexible plastic, the braces are thin, transparent and removable. Using 3D planning and special software, a simulation is created, showing how the teeth will move. This shifting is done with a series of transparent aligners. These aligners use precisely controlled movements to gradually shift your teeth into the correct position. You wear the aligners for about a week and then replace them for the next aligners in the series.

The duration of an Invisalign® treatment
Generally, Invisalign® treatment lasts two years, but of course it depends on your needs and wishes. You wear the aligners 23 hours a day.

When you want to eat, drink or brush your teeth, you take the aligners out easily. Actually, you can only drink water with the aligners in. If you do drink sugary drinks, rinse the braces with warm water afterwards. You cannot drink hot drinks with the aligners in.
Better for gums
Invisalign® braces do not contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) and are made of high-quality, safe materials. The aligners are therefore fully suitable for use in the mouth.
The steps of an Invisalign® treatment
1. Taking photos
First, we take light photos, X-rays and a 3D scan of your teeth and design the required aligners. This is an important step because the design determines the duration of the treatment and the final result. Once the design is right, Invisalign® gets to work making the aligners.
2. Passes
Once the aligners are custom-made, we make an appointment so you can try them on. First, you'll get attachments: a kind of glue buttons on the teeth that help the tooth shift better. You will then also be explained how to handle the Invisalign®. The first few days, the aligners are a bit tighter, but this quickly decreases.
3. Check
During the treatment, you will come for a check-up every eight weeks. After the first set of aligners is done, we will see if another set is needed to improve the result.
4. Splint or retainer
After orthodontic treatment, the teeth always tend to slowly move back to their former position. To prevent this, we splint the lower and possibly upper teeth with a wire. Another bit can also be made. You then wear this bit first all day and later only at night.
Cost and reimbursement of Invisalign® treatment
The cost of Invisalign® is set nationwide by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (Nza). The cost also depends on the number of aligners needed. During the intake interview, we discuss your personal treatment plan and the costs. Whether the treatment will be reimbursed depends on your situation and your health insurer. Contact your health insurer for more information on orthodontic reimbursements.
